Hello, this is going to be another lengthy, "do X thing for Y amount of time" what I mean by this is that I'm going to post once everyday in this thread until Monochrome World is released or if I need a cop-out until there is some kind of major announcement about the project. I was debating where to put this, but I figured that since it is officially game related it should be here, another reason is that well the UWoM discord does not really need another daily post thing like "post this aka", etc and expanding on that point this forum is very out of the way in terms of where Len'en fans congregate and since it is pretty much barren barring the few users who lurk here I figured it wouldn't really matter to them. Aside from the day counter, I'm also going to post about what I want from the game and len'en in general, feel free to join in and start your own day counter if you'd like, or speculate about MW and the future of Len'en in general, as long as it is Len'en related I don't consider it off-topic and maybe with these posts there might be some activity on this forum, even if it is just me. With all that being said I'm more than happy to christen this post with the first of many: DAY 1Attachments:

yay!! more activity here, glad to see it being active again once I started posting here, I guess screaming into the void works
On monochrome world... I feel like it has a chance to propel the fandom to new heights if it goes viral, however I'm also scared of what the Len'en fandom would become if it gets too big, especially with some of the themes Mugenri arc has. some growth would be fine however, maybe around twice the size it is currently but I'm afraid of what would happen if it gets too big due to the themes written into Mugenri arc

DAY 2 : Hello again, I'm back. So I figured I would talk a bit more about my MW hopes this time since the introductory post is over, let's state the obvious I'm a big fan of monochromatic presentation in media, since that is a recurring motif in Len'en having a game where that is the primary way that it is presented is really cool to me, I think most people like that style and I'm among them as well. As for gameplay what I saw kind of reminded me of a mix between Mega Man and SOTN mainly from Tsuba's slash attack looking a lot like the crissaegrim, obviously I don't think JynX is going to have any Metroidvania elements.
Regarding the Mega Man comparison I get this mainly from both the Fanbox donator video and the trailer, it is kind of hard to describe, but I see this mainly from the movement. I'll probably go deeper into this as these posts rack up, but for now I'll leave it quite sparse. In regards to what R8Spike said about popularity (thanks for posting btw), I agree that this game definitely has a higher chance to be more popular from the arthouse presentation, but I think it is mainly from the fact it isn't a bullet hell.
Now to be brutally honest, I don't really think Len'en will ever be popular or at least that popular, mainly because aside from most of the content being buried in STGs and the fact that even now Len'en has a reputation as a Touhou bootleg. Considering that it was a miracle that Touhou even got popular in the first place, Touhou has a wealth of fan-content that is in many different genres so it has kind of always been accessible to most people. Len'en lacks this, I usually see only danmakufu scripts, but even beyond that most of the content that wouldn't fall into this category is work by independent artists that is not translated. (Which is another issue, as the English fanbase is actually quite large and judging from what I've seen is probably about the same size or maybe slightly smaller than the Japanese community.)
I think the community will gain members, because it always does, but Len'en will never be even a quarter as popular as Touhou. Which in all honesty is fine, I've seen plenty of people say that Len'en benefits from being kind of obscure and I would actually agree, because the community is small, but passionate and that's given us the ability to interface with JynX which is really cool.
Sorry for the wall, this was kind of unrefined. I'll see you tomorrow.

this is a forum, walls of text are appreciated! yeah the chance that Len'en explodes is very slim- however I do feel like MW will vastly expand our numbers, as just being on steam allows people to find it when just looking for something to play (as opposed to having to search it out) and it probably being free also boost it. Also I think len'en could be big enough to boost the algorithm but I'm not 100% sure

DAY 3:
Hello, again. So, about MW release, Steam is the plan though I'm not really sure if it is going to be free or not. Now, of course the MO for other mainline games is that they are free, but I think that is mainly because they were what JynX calls, "like a certain shrine maiden STG series", secondly another reason why I don't think it will be free is because (from memory) there is fee of a $100 (USD) to publish your game (I believe you do get that back after you make like $1000 though) now I mention this because as opposed to Freem! (which I don't believe has a publishing fee) JynX not making any money wasn't a big deal because he wasn't losing any money to create his projects.
From what we know of JynX he isn't really well-off (bordering on poverty more-like) and I don't believe he's going to incur that fee with no hope of making any money back and it isn't like JynX has a problem monetising Len'en (see the album, pins, bag, kanae superchats etc) and when it came to those things he mostly went full digital because making CDs would have cost him, so I see him following that route, which isn't a bad thing I have no issue with buying MW, though I'd have to wait for some kind of translation because my Japanese is rubbish.
BoTC 2 is also going to be on Steam, but I hope JynX goes with his initial plan of releasing it as a one time payment with stuff being added later rather than free but with a lot of paid DLC, though I have to admit that's mainly because I think BoTC shouldn't be a money sink as well as a time sink.
Well that's all I have to say really, thanks to R8Spike for engaging with the thread and anybody else who has read through it, I'll see you tomorrow.

BotC was ran at a loss for years, I'm sure JynX could settle with $100. I feel like MW would be free as JynX wants all of the story to be free.
for BotC 2 I've thought about a few ways to keep the story free but the game paid
1 - Have the game be free, however you can only play easy and normal mode and your cafe maxes out at like lvl 30 unless you buy a one time purchase. this way you can still play the story for free, and JynX can still have the game be purchased by people who actually like BotC.
2 - Have units be purchasable for like 25 cents, but have them be easy to earn in game. This way people who want to get a unit quickly can for a small price, but it's not necessary.
I would rather not have a Len'en game be pay to play but I understand the sentiment for people who do. I feel most people would vibe with option 1 the best as we don't want botc to be "100 fucking dlcs" meme but I'm also fine with option 2.
No problem :D I want to participate in forum culture some as big social medias aren't really that good for discussion, along with having a harder time integrating into some larger forums (i.e shmups forum). I'm glad I stuck around here, as if I didn't I don't think what little activity we have would've happened.

DAY 4: Hello, again. I'm back once more, so I feel that MW being free is pretty much 50/50 to be honest, I mean I would rather it be free but I'm also cool with paying for it. As for BoTC running at a loss, yeah that is true and I did know about it, but I felt like it wasn't really the same thing as BoTC had ads which while they didn't cover the whole cost they did slightly mitigate it (I think the cost was only a major issue during the release version as the player count increased). Moving on, as for your idea, I'd say it is probably the best way to deal with a bad situation, keeping the payments as more of a "support JynX" button rather than necessary for progress.
I can tell you right now I am going to cheat when BoTC 2 is released because I'm not really interested in grinding for a 3rd time and I know I'm not going to have the same luck with my pulls as I did on the release version, though it is still way too early to even really talk about BoTC 2, since JynX is working on his "interesting game" (I was about to post but it just occurred to me that I swear it was mentioned somewhere that this thing would be Len'en related after all, but I just don't remember where) and I hope the next thing he works on after it is MW or GC. (Though I could probably be spared GC for just a bit longer as after getting all achievements in BPoHC I'm still a little burnt out.)
Thanks to R8Spike for engaging with the thread and anybody else who has read through it, I'll see you tomorrow.

DAY 5: Hello, again. I have returned, I'm not quite sure what to post so this might be a garbage reply or maybe more like a junkyard reply? You can still find cool things in a junkyard. Probably the most interesting thing is that ALePH_D should be streaming tonight with the topic being "the current state of Len'en" I doubt I really have anything new to add to that topic, but I might as well just say something short so this isn't a completely barebones reply.
I think I might just focus on one aspect which is the "Len'en perfect year" or rather how it didn't happen, So after about 6 years of BoTC development (which was more than half of Len'en's life) the 10th anniversary came along and much fun was had by all, part of the android's video contained a calendar with Len'en releases throughout the year (every 3 months) they each had an image associated with the months to sort of hint at what we might be getting. It was meant to happen this year.....It didn't.
Now behind the scenes, pretty much after the anniversary video was released, Kanae did a talking stream and mentioned that BoTC was going to die which sort of took the wind out of his sails and that he had known about this since October but forgot about it (I don't think he made the wrong call in prioritising the anniversary though, the only thing worse than finding out the game which had been a roadblock to Len'en's progress for 6 years was about to be unceremoniously executed and that all this time is now wasted would be to also say that there are no anniversary plans at all and cease to even acknowledge it.) Thank God he didn't.
Now I assumed at the time most of these were going to be delayed in some fashion or that BoTC was going to suffer a content drought for some time to accommodate his plans and have an even longer development. Neither happened and we seem to have gotten the worst result, BoTC got all of its current content in the game but development has ceased, all of the perfect year plans have been delayed by at least a year and what JynX is working on might not even be Len'en related at all.
Which means Len'en has actually made negative progress: an alpha, beta and now "release" versions are all to be thrown away since that won't even be BoTC anymore according to JynX, so 6 years and we have gone backwards. I don't say that to shit on JynX or say he's a bad dev or even to doompost, I just think that I can sympathise with him, but also criticise him for it. Because it is warranted, but it isn't like he's unaware of that in his streams where he talks about service ending he mentions all the pain it has caused him and in the anniversary gimmick streams he even begrudges the fact the BoTC ate up most of the series' life, so if anyone is actually angry it is probably JynX, to see all your hard work and promises essentially lie down and die must be infuriating.
Hell, I believe that apart from the reason that "being a vtuber is fun" the other half of that reason is to interface with fans in some way after waiting years for drip-fed micro updates.
I was going to write more, but there's gonna be a stream on the topic so I'd rather quit while I'm ahead. That was a cursory overview of situation so far, thanks to R8Spike for engaging with the thread and anybody else who has read through it, I'll see you tomorrow.

Listening to the rant portion of the stream, I can feel the rage of a spark going away. April fools is gonna prob be the biggest time for the series
it would be funny if the "idea" was a elaborate april fools joke tho

DAY 6: Hello, again. I'm back, but yeah April Fools is generally the biggest time for Len'en so I'm curious as to what we might see/hear this year it would be really funny if this was an elaborate joke though, I gotta admit the thought had crossed my mind but I think that was just desperate optimism. Oh JynX please don't work yourself into the hospital again. (Should be a fanbox update soon if we're lucky)
Sorry for the shorter post I don't have as much time today, Thanks to R8Spike and 011sunayn for engaging with the thread and anybody else who has read through it, I'll see you tomorrow.

DAY 8:
Hello, I'm back. So a video is in the works which is great, judging by how Len'en announcements have panned out this year I'm going to stay cautiously optimistic about the video and the content in it (a sort of I'll believe it when I see it attitude) what I'd like is for something to be announced or at the very least some sort of information on what JynX has been working on. I don't think we're gonna be getting a video like the 5th anniversary where JynX went crazy, but hopefully we'll get something that will at least be reassuring.
I'm not gonna speculate too much because I don't want to hype myself up what might be just a joke video and since it is gonna release soon there's no real point in going any further. Thanks to R8Spike and 011sunayn for engaging with the thread and anybody else who has read through it, I'll see you tomorrow.

DAY 10:
Hello, it is tomorrow today! So, this time I figured I would write something of actual substance since my last posts were sort of lackluster, case in point, "Len'en collection". So, we finally got confirmation as to what the mishmash of logos were I saw a few people say it was a remaster and I thought that it made a lot of sense and thankfully those people were right so congratulations to you. Now that we have an idea of what JynX is working on so: this is not the interesting project he had mentioned which is also the current main project, it is sort of a side project at the moment and hilariously enough he seems to have reneged a bit on MW being in "active development" oh boy it really is gonna be Dec 31st 11:59PM 2029 isn't it?
So as neat as a Len'en revival is and while I was excited I did feel like I'd seen this sort of thing before with indie devs that go back to remaster their old games instead of pushing the story forward or really doing anything new, not that I don't appreciate what it looks like will be added (I'll talk about that in my next post) but I do get the sense that store-wise we're at best only going to get a little push (I feel like GC at most will give us some additional context, aside from the gameplay differences and whatever else JynX mentioned, in before he isn't able to get save data to carry over like he wanted to)
So, I'm closer to cautiously optimistic rather than fully hyped given that it is also not the main priority. Thanks to R8Spike and 011sunayn for engaging with the thread and anybody else who has read through it, I'll see you tomorrow.

DAY 14: Hello, I'm going to post something that isn't a just sentence, what a treat! So, as outlined in my last post with substance, I'm going to give some praise as to some of the new features we got to see in the Len'en Remasters (which I'm going to call Le:re from here on out because it is easier) The first thing that made me excited was spell practice, Gods above and below rejoiced when this finally became a feature instead of some messy patch that only works half the time (not insulting their work but it is nice to have the feature be incorporated) especially given that some of JynX's spell balance is very questionable to say the least.
The new arranged soundtrack is interesting, generally what I think of remastered OSTs is that I wish I could switch between it and the old versions with it ideally allowing me to pick and choose what to keep original and what to changed to be arranged, I've seen a few games do this but it generally isn't the norm which is unfortunate. So, if I have anything I want out of the system I'd like it to be that, I don't expect it, but I do want it.
The "builds" thing is a pretty strange choice in my opinion, I understood why something like that was basically a necessity in bpohc but for the older games? Seems kind of odd. Admittedly what we were shown was nothing as crazy as what you could do in bpohc but more like little boosters that make things a bit easier, I'm waiting for more clarification on it because it seemed to me to be an especially unrefined element of that trailer.
Well I think I'll just leave it there for the moment. Thanks to R8Spike and 011sunayn for engaging with the thread and anybody else who has read through it, I'll see you tomorrow.
