I dunno if this is the right scetion to ask this... I noticed how both Sukune and the haniwa tsukumogami from Touhou Tougenkyuu are related to sumo and Nomi no Sukune, but what's the realtion between haniwas and sumo?

I can't say for sure... But from what I know, Nomi no Sukune is the one behind the idea of making clay figures serving as burial mounds (which is pretty much the purpose of haniwa other than decoration). That idea was later passed onto later generations, which probably contributed greatly to the Kofun period (when haniwa was first introduced). See this post for more detail. Attachments:
